As the end of this term rapidly approaches, I would like to share insightful thought pieces, opinions and signposts to useful resources/events aimed at supporting your school/trust. Please read to the end - this is where we hear from an ECT who started their golden thread journey in one of our schools!
I am proud to be working alongside you for our third year. The collaborative working I see across the area sets us apart. I wish you all a relaxing break and a happy new year.
Best wishes, Lynne Birch | Teaching School Hub Lead ❄️
Collaboration through maths
Cordelia Myers
"The collaborate, supportive environment created within our work groups is helping to retain teachers."
Cordelia Myers, Strategic Lead for Cambridge Maths Hub, highlights the positive impact that the Maths Hub is having on teaching and learning in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region. Notably, the importance of developing collaborative professional communities.
Empowering group coaching for colleagues on parental leave - The MaternityTeacher PaternityTeacher Project
Join The MTPT Project this December for the winter cohort of their Parental Leave group coaching programme. This highly supportive programme is aimed specifically at colleagues currently on a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave. In three online baby-friendly sessions, you will explore key personal development themes such as confidence, managing change, identity, and gaining a sense of autonomy and direction.
The main focus in the AB at present is the end of term Progress reports. Induction Tutors should have received an email with a Progress Review Walkthrough – if you missed this or have any concerns, please contact us.
ECTs will have received an email focusing on wellbeing. Look out for our new ECT ‘wellbeing clinics’ from January 2024.
Early Career Framework
Year 2 ECT Regional Conferences
Thank you to the professional facilitators for lending their expertise to our year 2 ECTs at our regional conferences! The day offered beneficial networking opportunities to our ECTs. By inviting our local Curriculum Hubs, such as STEM Learning and the New Wave English Hub, the ECTs also had the occasion to further explore the professional development opportunities open to them.
"Great conference, a range of really helpful sessions."
"Charlotte & Beth were very engaging & informative & have definitely provided lots of support for future teaching"
January cohort information
Participants uploaded to the database after the 31st October are registered to the January cohort; if any ECTs or mentors have been incorrectly registered to the January cohort, please contact Shannon Crowley.
The registration period is open until the 29th February. Mentors and Induction Tutors will receive their log-in details from the 12th December and ECTs from the 4th January.
Upcoming events
Both year 1 and 2 mentors will have received an email today inviting them to reserve a place at their upcoming events on the online learning platform.
For year 1 mentors, these are training sessions being held throughout January 2024. For year 2 mentors, these are local group sessions in January. Please note that this is part one of two LGS, and year 2 mentors will need to attend both in order to reach the full engagement.
Leadership Development
Applications for NPQs starting in February 2024 are now open!
This is the last cohort with confirmed DfE funding for applicants and for schools to benefit from the targeted additional grants!
The DfE have confirmed that funding for deferred participants moves with them. It could therefore be possible to apply/start on the February cohort, defer and fully engage on a later cohort with your guaranteed funding. If you are interested in knowing more about this option, please email Louise Crookshank.
The whole school/trust NPQ is open to all schools or trusts looking for a collective approach to invest in their staff's professional development.
The pilot whole school NPQLT launched with Nene & Ramnoth this October.
"This is an invaluable opportunity to develop staff personal understanding and skills through the NPQ framework model as a part of a whole school journey providing supportive networks and opportunities for regular professional discussions and reflections as a part of everyday practice in the school."
Thank you to the Curriculum Hubs who supported us at our recent regional conferences! We proudly partner with a plethora of Curriculum Hubs, Local Authorities and national organisations who provide professional development opportunities.
This SEND conference is completely free to attend, aimed at early years colleagues. Kerry Murphy, an early childhood specialist with a background in neurodiversity and disability, is the keynote speaker.
